Many of you have mentioned your concern about the planned removal of the trash barrels in the parks around the community next month (Carry in/Carry out policy). We mentioned that we were considering writing a letter protesting the implementation of this policy in urban parks like Sligo Creek Park. Instead of our civic association writing a letter, I have been working with the Friends of Sligo Creek in preparing a letter that they and civic associations within the Sligo watershed would sign. Attached is the proposed letter. Let me know if any of you object to having us sign on to this letter.

Dear Civic Association Leader,

In a short time the Park Department plans to remove trash barrels from Sligo. Friends of Sligo Creek is sending the attached letter to Mr. Berlage, head of Park and Planning. Since your residents live along the creek, we invite you to join in as a signatory. It would be helpful if you would please reply by Monday, Nov. 10, saying yes or no, or asking us to please wait until some date. We'ld like to send the letter soon.
